How do you write for humans interacting with an intelligent machine interface? What is Conversational AI and does it play a role in information design? Could blockchain become a new information interface? How do you design information for Augmented Reality? For information specialists today, the new tech looks like a black hole in space. What place do our current information models have in this futuristic world of AI, IOT, chatty robots, and algorithm-driven intelligent systems? And how do we maintain and even enhance the human user experience in an environment that is increasingly machine-driven, even as users expect highly contextual content? In this keynote address, Toni Byrd Ressaire talks about the need to adapt our current information models consider user contexts and the machines that deliver the content users consume. Toni will share research and information models she and colleagues in Europe have been developing over the past few years in the Information 4.0 Consortium. She will discuss the role of context in information development and delivery; context prediction; information development strategies; and how some machine technologies are processing information. She’ll help us understand terminology such as machine learning, conversational AI, Natural Language Processing and Understanding, and how we as information developers can write for these technologies.
